Introduction of WHO-FIC(WHO Family of International Classifications)

The WHO Family of International Classifications is a suite of classifications for international use as meaningful information tools to capture the core health dimensions such as: deaths, disease, disability and health, and health interventions.

  1. 1) To develop a Strategic Work Plan (SWP) for the Network, which is presented at the annual WHO-FIC Network meeting
  2. 2) To monitor and follow-up on progress of the Strategic Work Plan
  3. 3) To establish and revise, as needed, procedures for the conduct of annual meetings of the Network
Committee To take responsibility for progressing relevant area of SWP of the Network
Reference Group To provide forums for more technical discussions and to facilitate participation by a wider range of experts and interested parties for each WHO-FIC classification

EIC Education and Implementation Committee Assist and advises WHO and the WHO-FIC Network in implementing WHO classifications, with a principal focus on reference classifications
CSAC Classification and Statistics Advisory Committee To perform as principal ICD-11 advisory committee, focusing mainly on ICD-11 MMS and its update proposals in mortality and morbidity
MSAC Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee To advise on scientific content for the ICD-11, of which advice is to be provided to CSAC
ITC Informatics and Termonilogy Committe Deveolops policies on electronic standards used for WHO-FIC classifications and related terminologies and promotes their international implementation.
FDC Family Development Commitee Assess potential new member classifciations that could fill a gap in the WHO-FIC

MRG Mortality Reference Group To assist improving international comparability of mortality data
MbRG Morbidity Reference Group To identify, discuss and solve issues related to interpreting and applying ICD to morbidity coding and classification through the development of agreed upon coding rules and guidelines
FDRG Functioning and Disability Reference Group Advises the WHO-FIC Network on functioning, disability and health classification and coding issues
TMRG Traditional Medicine Reference Group conduct all the work related to traditional medicine
